A day of professional training presented by Kids Free to Grow, the York County Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Council of York County.
Topics for the day include:
- Forward Thinking – A Global Progression: Hear about the status of child abuse and neglect issues starting with a global and national overview. We’ll spend some time sharing the state of Maine and county information as well.
- Examining the Protective Factors: Utilizing the Strengthening Families curriculum a presentation on Protective, Promotive and Risk Factors associated with family and children around abuse and neglect issues will be presented. Part of the time will be spent in a Community Café model with break out groups discussing strategies for decreasing the risk while promoting the protective factors.
- Healthy Relationships: The new Maine State Education Requirement that schools offer educational opportunities to Maine students around sexual abuse prevention has led Kids Free to Grow and other Child Abuse and Neglect Councils to utilizing the Vermont Healthy Relationship Curriculum. This Curriculum offers varying, age appropriate presentations for children from preschool through junior high school. The curriculum, its contents, findings and high lights of the lessons will be presented.
COST is FREE with lunch provided, thanks to a Maine Childrens Trust Grant.
