DESCRIPTION:The Nurturing parenting program is our evidence based\, trauma informed\, family centered curriculum approved by the Maine Children’s trust. Specifically\, the Through Recovery program is the curriculum branch commonly administered alongside a 12-step program\, and promotes mutuality\, authenticity\, and empathy. The program explores the effects of substance use on themselves and their families\, identifying childhood experiences\, strengths\, and fears\, to promote and strengthen their recovery. We build nurturing skills through a variety of activities and techniques\, examining the parallels of their own experiences and their children’s. \nPlease submit your registration for the program before the class start time. DESCRIPTION:Kids Free to Grow is excited to partner with the Kittery Community Center to host our weekly playgroup! \nAll parents and caregivers of children ages 0-5 are welcome to attend. We offer a safe\, fun environment for children to socialize and play. Located in the gym\, our playgroup has toys and games for children to enjoy with their parents and other children\, including blocks\, cars\, a slide\, and much more! \nMore than just for kids\, we encourage our families to interact with each other and strengthen their sense of community. As the child abuse and neglect prevention council for York County\, Kids Free to Grow focuses on the five Protective Factors: Parental Resilience\, Social Connections\, Knowledge of parenting and Child Development\, Concrete Supports in Times of Need\, and the Social-Emotional Competence of Children. Our playgroups serve as an excellent resource for increasing resiliency and social connections\, bringing parents closer to their community and increasing their support. \nThe playgroup is entirely free to attend\, all we ask is that you sign in each week and then you’re free to enjoy. The Tiny Tigers playgroup is designed for children ages 0-5 and their parents or caregivers\, encouraging active play and community strengthening. The spacious auditorium located on the second floor of the community center allows for safe\, energetic play on tumble mats and balance bikes. Our designated areas for coloring\, blocks\, and sensory play allows kids who are younger to have safe\, stimulating play as well! \nMore than just for kids\, we encourage our families to interact with each other and strengthen their sense of community.
